This compact knife is characterized by a sharply pointed tip and a smaller profile than a typical Japanese bunka knife, making it ideal for precise and detailed work. It is well suited not only for cutting fruits and vegetables, but also for preparing small fish and handling delicate ingredients with ease.
The blade is finished with a traditional Japanese kurouchi (black-forged) finish. The darkened surface is the natural color of iron oxide left from the forging process, giving each knife a distinctive, handcrafted character. Compared to fully polished blades, this finish is known for its improved resistance to rust.
The handle is crafted from traditional Japanese magnolia wood (ho wood). Exceptionally light yet durable, it offers excellent balance and a comfortable grip, allowing for precise control and ease of use over extended periods.
